Transfer Utility Customers
Transferring of utility services is defined as: A present Kosciusko Water & Light utility service customer moving from one location on KWL’s utility system to another location on KWL’s utility system.
Transfer customers are requested to appear at the Kosciusko Water & Light Business Office at 204 West Jefferson Street and sign an order to discontinue utility service at one location, and to sign an order to establish utility service at another location. Also, at this time, customers must establish their identity, if requested by the Kosciusko Water & Light Plant. If your present utility deposit is deemed sufficient, we will transfer your deposit from your existing location to your new location. We know it can be inconvenient for you to come by our office to transfer service; however we want to protect you from anyone gaining service through the illegal use of your name. Deposits are required for the protection of all our customers. We believe the person(s) requesting and using the service should be responsible for payment. All deposits will be returned to you after termination of your service and payment of your final bill.
To Transfer Service you will need to:
1. Personally come to the KWL office at 204 West Jefferson Street to complete an order for discontinuance of utility service at one location, and complete an order for establishing utility service at a new location.
2. If requested, present at least one (1) personal identification card, which may be a driver’s license or state issued personal ID card and carries your physical description, your picture, and your signature.
3. Present your Social Security card, and record with us your Social Security number.
4. Present your rental receipt or a copy of your lease if you are renting. Present a deed or loan papers, etc. to show ownership if you are a homeowner.
5. Pay the appropriate deposit according to the following schedule.
Residential Deposits
Rental: Home Owner
Electric & Water $250.00 Electric& Water $125.00
Water Only $80.00 Water Only $80.00
In addition to the above deposit, all accounts require a $10.00 non-refundable transfer fee, due at the time the order is given.
Note: If the requested water only service location has a meter larger than ¾ “, the above water only deposits will increase according to meter size.
The Kosciusko Water & Light Plant allows customers to transfer utility services to another location within our system. Any utility consumption/usage at the old location will be transferred to the new location and billed accordingly.
